Going Native Garden TourMany a gardener’s goal is a garden with all native plants. See what some San Francisco Bay Area gardeners have done with this idea during a free tour in the Santa Clara Valley and Peninsula, California, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. April 18, 2010. This community-based tour, launched in 2003, features about 45 gardens, most of them private home gardens, which are open on tour day for viewing by the public in a do-it-yourself, open house format. The goals of the tour are to demonstrate reduced water use, reduced chemical and pesticide use, improved habitat, and the unique aesthetic appeal of gardens designed with California native plants. Registration for “Going Native Garden Tour 2010” will open on Saturday, January 9, 2010. Meanwhile you can sign up to be on the notification list by going on the tour website. When registration opens, an email notification will be sent to everyone on this notification list.
