Capital District Flower & Garden Show
Here’s a bonus, Road Trips Gardeners: New York State wineries will be participating in this year’s Capital District Flower & Garden Show at Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburg Avenue (Route 4), Troy, New York March 26 through 28, 2010. This show is for the serious gardener (it’s known for its seminars). In fact, local Master Gardeners will do soil testing for just $1 (attendees wishing to have their soil tested are asked to bring a dry sample in a sandwich-size bag. Results will be forwarded 2-3 days after the show.)
There are 17 garden and landscape exhibits, 100 flower exhibits by local arrangers, florists and garden club members, and a garden marketplace featuring 150 vendors. Lectures include these two on the first day of the show: “Introduction to Herb Garden Design” by Autumn Richardson, Landscape Designer at The Other Side of Paradise, and “Hosta Gardening Using Native Plants and Wildflowers” by Viktoria Serafin, Horticulturist at Glenbrook Farm.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 26, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. March 27 and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. March 28, 2010. General admission at the door is $10, with children younger than 15 free. Partial proceeds benefit Wildwood Programs.
