pennsylvania_longwood_orchidCollectors and growers of orchids from Hawaii to South America will showcase their wares Friday through Sunday (March 26-28, 2010) at Longwood Gardens, 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

The annual International Orchid Show & Sale fills the conservatory with exhibits (and, Road Trips Gardeners, some of the orchids are for sale!). The show, which is judged by the American Orchid Society, includes guided tours and informative talks. It’s sponsored by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society.

Actually, orchids will continue to be on display in the Longwood conservatory through March 31, 2010. The four acres of indoor gardens have been transformed into a tropical oasis with thousands of orchids from around the world, including a living orchid curtain, orchid topiaries and columns and an orchid waterfall. The gardens promise a wide variety of orchids, including Cattleya, Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilum and Oncidium.
