Considering growing miniature roses, Road Trips Gardeners? A stop at the 12th Annual American Rose Society All-Miniature Rose Show and Conference near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on August 21, 2010, should provide you with both inspiration and knowledge.

Although “We’re Wright with Roses” (hosted by the Greater Milwaukee Rose Society, the Madison Rose Society and the Gateway Rose Society August 20-22, 2010) is primarily for members, there is a public symposium on August 21 that starts (appropriately enough) with “Miniature Roses for Beginners” at 10:45 a.m., providing information on choosing, planting and caring for miniature and miniflora roses. A guided tour of the rose show follows at 1 p.m. As part of the registration, participants receive The Rose for Today: Growing the Beautiful Miniflora by Sean McCann and “your very own” miniature or miniflora rose. The registration form is online; fee is $20.

The show and conference takes place August 20-22, 2010, at the Country Springs Hotel and Conference Center, 2810 Golf Road, Waukesha, Wisconsin (about 15 miles west of Milwaukee). And, yes, the “Wright” reference is to Frank Lloyd Wright, whose home, Taliesin, is in nearby Spring Green, Wisconsin.
