Road Trips Gardeners who love roses have no doubt set their sights on attending the Rose Festival in Portland, Oregon. Events start Friday (May 28, 2010), concluding June 13, 2010 (note, please, that there’s nothing on June 1, 7 or 8, 2010).

For rose enthusiasts, the centerpiece is the 122nd annual Spring Rose Show, the largest and longest-running rose show in the nation. More than 4,000 blooms will fragrance the Lloyd Center Ice Rink, which will be transformed into a rose garden June 10 and 11, 2010. Admission at the door is $3. It’s sponsored by the Portland Rose Society, founded in 1889.

Other events include the Grand Floral Parade (June 12 ) and an open house (May 22) at the new headquarters of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation, The Rose Building, 1020 SW Naito Parkway, Portland.
