Tatton Park Garden and Flower Show
The Tatton Park Garden Show takes place July 21-25, 2010, in Tatton Park, Mereheath Lane, Knutsford, Cheshire, England. It’s a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) exhibit.
This year sees the debut of the RHS National Young Designer of the Year Competition. These three finalists — Hugo Bugg, Will Quarmby and Olivia Stewart — will be designing gardens for the show. Each receives a grant of £12,000 to create their garden (it’s provided by the North West Regional Development Agency together with the RHS). The three gardens will be judged by RHS judges at the show, and the overall winner will be crowned the first RHS Young Designer of the Year.
Also new at the Tatton Park show is Eurofleurs, a European competition for young florists (maximum age: 25). Among the countries taking part in the competition are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia and Slovenia. The competition is hosted by the British Florist Association.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. July 21-24, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25, with the sell-off beginning at 4 p.m. You can buy tickets for the show in advance online.
Insider tip: Fortnum & Mason will be selling the lunches, light snacks and refreshments. Yum!
