Inverewe Garden is built on a craggy hillside bordering Loch Ewe. Its Walled Garden includes plants from around the world: Chinese rhododendrons, Tasmanian eucalypts and New Zealand daisy bushes as well as a woodland containing a canopy of Scots Pine trees underplanted with many unusual woodland plants such as Meconopsis and Primula.

Perhaps best of all, Road Trips Gardeners, there are extensive views of Loch Ewe, the surrounding Scottish Highlands and all the way out to sea.

Hours from April 1 through May 29 and again August 29 through October 2 are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. An extra hour is added (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) from May 30 through August 28. From October 3 through 31, it’s open just 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from November 1 through March 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Note that during high winds or snow the garden may be closed. Admission fee is £8.50 for adults.

Part of the National Trust for Scotland, you’ll find Inverewe Garden at Poolewe, Ross-shire.
