Mayan-themed accents are scattered throughout the Orchid Show, underway at the Missouri Botanical Garden through March 27, 2011.

The annual show is the only time of year when a vast, rotating selection of orchids from the Garden’s historic collection is available for public viewing — some 800 blooming orchids — in the Orthwein Floral Display Hall on the lower level of the Ridgway Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri.

It’s open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (last weekday entry at 2 p.m.) plus Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show is $5 (in addition to garden admission).
