The Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival

The fourth annual Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival is set for June 4 and 5, 2011. It centers on the Douglas County Courthouse Lawn, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia.

It honors Penny McHenry, founder of the American Hydrangea Society, who died in 2006. Both the “Penny Mac” and “Mini Penny” hydrangeas are named for her.

Note, Road Trips Gardeners, that the festival includes a marketplace, flower show, display gardens and tours of local gardens.

(And a tip of the gardener’s trowel to our Facebook fan Robin Moran Fonville for bringing this event to our attention!)
