Garden Chef Demos
Wandering through Atlanta anytime soon, Road Trips Gardeners? If your itinerary allows a weekend stop, consider watching one of the Garden Chef Demonstrations at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Avenue NE, Atlanta, Georgia.
At noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays now through October 30, 2011, the Garden Chef showcases fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs in simple recipes with demos in the Edible Garden Outdoor Kitchen (it’s free with garden admission). The ingredients are harvested right there in the Edible Garden.
Here are a couple of this year’s recipes: Baby Spinach and Strawberry Salad and Mache Greens with Blueberries and Avocado.
The Edible Garden showcases the farm-to-table concept of cultivating and consuming fresh, local and sustainably-grown food. It not only returns a one-acre asphalt parking lot to green space, but also demonstrates that fruits and vegetables make beautiful landscape plants.
