Detroit Agriculture Network Tour of Urban Gardens and Farms
Gonna be in metro Detroit Wednesday evening, Road Trips Gardeners? Consider joining the 14th annual Detroit Agriculture Network Tour of Urban Gardens and Farms between 6 and 8 p.m. August 3, 2011.
More than 1,300 gardens and farms form a patchwork of organic agriculture throughout Detroit, involving some 17,000 gardeners. With nearly one in 40 Detroiters growing food, the Michigan city is not just an international leader in urban agriculture, it is pioneering a new kind of city: the city of the 21st century.
Locally grown food and refreshments prepared by local restaurants and chefs will highlight Detroit’s agricultural bounty after the tour.
Check-in begins at 5 p.m. at Catherine Ferguson Academy 2750 Selden Street, Detroit, Michigan. Tours will leave at 6 p.m.
