Here’s a rare opportunity for Road Trips Gardeners whose travels take them to Colorado, on July 21, 2012.

Scott Skogerboe celebrates the Year of the Tree by opening his three-acre edible yard in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Scott and his wife Diane bought their property about nine years ago and set right away to convert it in their dream orchard. Their edible yard now features over 100 different fruit trees and small fruits. In addition to these edibles, Scott and his wife have over 1,000 other plants including hundreds that attract and feed wildlife.

Scott, who holds a degree in Horticulture from Colorado State University, has been the head propagator at Fort Collins Wholesale Nursery for the last 18 years, growing more than three million trees and shrubs. He is a recognized tree historian.

Note: Participants will receive driving directions close to the date of the tour and the Skogerboe property is open ONLY on this occasion to support the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Adult Education department.
