Beardless Iris Sale
A Beardless Iris Sale sponsored by the King County Iris Society is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 22, 2012, in Crossroads Bellevue, NE 8th and 156th Avenue NE, Bellevue, Washington (map).
Many varieties, including unusual, hard to find and newer introductions will be sold.
According to the American Iris Society, Beardless Irises are mostly native to Asia. The first four types of beardless irises, Spuria, Siberian, Japanese and Louisiana irises, are commonly grown in gardens, and they all bloom after the Tall Bearded irises, extending the iris bloom season even longer.
The fifth type of beardless iris, the Pacific Coast Native, blooms before the Tall Bearded irises and is native to the western regions of the United States.
