Flower of the Day: White Rose
Sometimes the simplest bouquets are the most effective.
A bowl full of white roses greets patrons at the Captain Linnell House Restaurant, 137 Skaket Beach Road, Orleans, Massachusetts (map).
The mansion was built in 1840 by Captain Ebeneezer Linnell. Born in 1811 on Barley Neck Road, Orleans, he died at sea off the coast of Brazil in 1864. The house is said to be a replica of a neo-classic villa built for a shipping agent friend in Marseilles, France.
These days it’s not only a white-tablecloth-restaurant, but a favorite setting for weddings and receptions on Cape Cod.
