“Wings and Wildflowers”, Lake County, Florida’s inaugural birding and wildflower festival, will be held September 28, 29 and 30, 2012, in Hickory Point Park in Tavares, Florida (map).

The featured keynote speaker is James Currie, host of the NBC Sports show, Nikon’s Birding Adventures, and the National Geographic show, Aerial Assassins.

The Wings and Wildflowers Festival is partnering with the Florida Wildflower Foundation in hosting the 2012 Wildflower Symposium. This year’s Symposium includes wildflower walks and workshops on photography, starting a small planting from seed, wildflower propagation, and make-and-take rain barrels. There also will be free presentations on managing natural lands with fire, gardening with wildflowers, attracting butterflies with native plants, and getting to know native bees.
