The Fall Chrysanthemum Show in the Lyman Conservatory at the Botanic Garden of Smith College, 16 College Lane, Northampton, Massachusetts (map), opens Saturday (November 3, 2012) and runs through November 18, 2012.

It’s open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus 6 to 8 p.m. on November 9, 2012, and November 16, 2012. Admission is $2.

The opening lecture takes place at 7:30 p.m. Friday (November 2, 2012). Arthur Haines (right) will talk about his book, Flora Novae Angliae: A Manual for the Identification of Native and Naturalized Higher Vascular Plants of New England, in the Campus Center Carroll Room. Haines is a Research Botanist with the New England Wild Flower Society. The book is a complete, up-to-date botanical reference for the region’s native and naturalized plants.
