Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden

A fall foliage festival and plant sale is set for October 20 through 27, 2012, at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden, Weyerhaeuser Corporate Headquarters Campus, 2525 South 336th Street, Federal Way, Washington (map).

October 20 is International Plant Day & Sale, and Dennis Bottemiller talks about the “Best Rhodys from Around the World” at 1 p.m. On October 21, Bonsai Day, a presentation on “Bonsai Rock Planting” by Dave De Groot is scheduled for 2 p.m. John van den Meerondonk discusses “Growing Garden Ferns” at 1 p.m. October 26 — Fern Day.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. A wide selection of plants will be on sale, and admission is free.

The Rhododendron Species Foundation & Botanical Garden is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the conservation, public display, and distribution of Rhododendron species. Home to one of the largest collections of species rhododendrons in the world, the garden displays over 600 of the more than 1,000 species found in the wilds of North America, Europe, and Asia, as well as the tropical regions of southeast Asia and northern Australia.
