georgia_columbus_orchidsAre you thinking of growing orchids, Road Trips Gardener? If you’re traveling in Georgia at the end of next month, consider stopping for “Orchids 101: Basics For Beginners”.

The workshop is scheduled from 6 til 7:30 p.m. March 28, 2013, at the Columbus Botanical Garden, 3603 Weems Road, Columbus, Georgia (map). Cost is $20 per person.

Although orchids have a reputation for being difficult to grow, Ginny Potter, Master Gardener, will provide basic care and maintenance guidelines plus other tips for keeping orchids healthy and thriving in the home. From species selection to basic maintenance to methods that encourage re-blooming, participants will leave ready to start growing orchids.

Before you do, however, Martha Davis, floral designer with Bloomwoods Flowers at The Landings, will demonstrate various ways to use orchids in floral creations such as bracelets, corsages and centerpieces.
