smith_w_gary2If you’re anywhere near Wayne, Pennsylvania, this week, Road Trips Gardeners, consider a stop at the Radnor Memorial Library, 114 West Wayne Avenue, Wayne, Pennsylvania (map).

W. Gary Smith will talk about “From Art to Landscape” during the 14th Annual Chanticleer Lecture, beginning at 2 p.m. April 7, 2013. The lecture is free and open to the public.

His goal? To help you step beyond making “solutions” in garden design and learn how to unleash the artist within yourself, making meaningful gardens that express the relationship between local sense of place and your own creative spirit.

Smith’s current projects include in the design for the new Santa Fe Botanical Garden; the Children’s Garden at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Texas; the Discovery Garden at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden; the Therapeutic Garden at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and the John C. Wister Rhododendron Garden at Tyler Arboretum.

Since 2001 he has been working with staff on the ongoing restoration of the Winterthur garden.
