Flower of the Day: Allium

aliumThese brilliant purple allium were blooming along the mill race at the Ancaster Mill Restaurant in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, last month.

According to Wikipedia, Allium is a monocot genus of flowering plants, informally referred to as the onion genus. The generic name Allium is the Latin word for garlic.
