texas_fall-festival-rosesMore than 100,000 roses spread across 20 acres are the stars at the 25th annual Fall Festival of Roses, set for November 1 through 3, 2013, at Independence Display Gardens of the Antique Rose Emporium, 10,000 FM 50, Brenham, Texas.

The emporium, as the name points out, specializes in “old roses”, which they describe as time-tested survivors. “Many have resided in old neighborhoods and cemeteries happily growing with no care from human hands. They are tougher and more resilient than modern roses that were produced mainly for cut flowers or exhibition purposes,” they note.

There are a whole series of presentations that weekend, including one on “Propagation: Getting to the Root of the Matter” by Glenn Schroeter, the emporium’s production manager, who has rooted, grown and marketed more than five million roses. He will present easy methods of producing roses from cuttings.
