When most of New York State’s leaf season is on the wane, the trees at the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), 2900 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, New York, are just coming into their prime.

That is especially true in the 50-acre Thain Family Forest, New York City’s largest remaining tract of old-growth forest, and the Native Plant Garden, a 3.5-acre garden that showcases the beauty of plants native to northeastern North America.

NYBG celebrates the foliage season with two Fall Forest Weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. November 3 and 4, 2018, and November 10 and 11, 2018.

There are guided walks through the Thain Family Forest, and canoe trips down the Bronx River. Birds of prey demonstrations, Shakespeare performances, and many other activities make for an unforgettable autumn experience.

Tickets for Fall Forest Weekends are in included in the All-Garden Pass, which covers admission to the grounds as well as to seasonal gardens, exhibitions, and attractions such as the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, and Tram Tour.

The New York Botanical Garden is “a museum of plants” located at Bronx River Parkway (Exit 7W) and Fordham Road. The Garden is open year-round, Tuesday through Sunday and Monday federal holidays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
