Gesneriads and African Violets

the annual show and sale sponsored by the
Delta Gesneriad and African Violet Society will be held September 15 and 16, 2012, at the Sacramento Garden & Arts Center, 3330 McKinley Boulevard, Sacramento, California.

Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Gesneriad Society, the gesneriad family contains over 2,500 species of plants. Most gesneriads are from tropical and subtropical regions and are often found growing in humus-filled depressions or rock crevices, on humus-covered forest floors or epiphytically on tree branches.

The best-known member of the gesneriad family is the African Violet.
