An Adventure in the Alps
Are you traveling to Switzerland with children this summer, Road Trips Gardeners? Here’s something new to add to your agenda.
Imagine you’re the size of an ant and live in a wonderfully lush alpine meadow. That’s the promise of a new adventure playground at Allmendhubel at Mürren in the Swiss Alps.
Visitors will be transported to a fantasy world of giant alpine flowers, grasses and oversized insects. Children can fly with butterflies, explore a marmot burrow or try their hand at milking and cheese making. It’s an opportunity to experience plant life, animals and farming in the mountains.
Flower Park opens July 19, 2014.
There’s also a Flower Trail at Allmendhubel where, from June to September, more than 150 types of mountain flora blossom, including gentians, cyclamen, alpine roses and edelweiss.
The circular trail begins close to the Allmendhubel restaurant and takes around 20 minutes to complete. Bonus: the best views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
