fern-closeupIf you’re a fan of ferns, Road Trips Gardener, and you’ll be driving in the Mid-Atlantic next month, consider scheduling a stop at Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library, 5105 Kennett Pike (Route 52), Wilmington, Delaware.

From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. June 20, 2014, there’ll be a workshop on “Ferns to Know and Grow” in the Brown Learning Center.

Versatile plants, ferns can be used as ground cover in difficult situations, and they can also be featured in a shade or woodland garden. The class will include the basics of fern botany and cultivation, an introduction to the best ferns for the Winterthur area, and a fern for every participant. Class takes place indoors and in the field. Tuition is $35.
