texas_dallas_plant-trialsResults of the trial garden program at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 8617 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas, will be announced at 2 p.m. June 25, 2014.

These results include data of what plants performed well and which ones survived the Texas weather in late 2013 through spring 2014.

Another goal of the Plant Trials Field Day is to give those in the industry a chance to network and to learn best practices from one another. Hundreds of industry attendees are expected to attend the program followed by lunch, a trade show and self-guided tours.

Sadly for most of us Road Trips Gardeners, attendance is limited to those in the industry and costs $25 at the door, if space is available.

The Dallas Arboretum Trial program is internationally known as a place to test plants for extreme weather conditions, especially high heat and humidity. In 2013, about 3,000 plants were tested including annuals, bulbs, perennials, shrubs, trees, groundcovers and vegetables.

Home gardeners can find out more information about the Dallas Arboretum’s Trial Program and plant promotions by visiting the plant trials website.
