illinois_glencoe_orchidThe Illinois Orchid Society Fall Show & Sale takes place October 11 and 12, 2014, at the Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, Ilinois.

Hours each day are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Note that there’s a special photographers’ hour beginning at 9 a.m. October 12.)

Individual orchids in 128 classes will vie for red, white, and blue ribbons in this juried show. Twenty-five entries will receive “best of class” green ribbons, and the best-appointed plant in the show will receive the Chicago Horticultural Society Award from American Orchid Society judges.

Tabletop displays will include the rarest of species as well as cultivated hybrids. The Society will provide an orchid sales area and repotting services.

Another chance to see specialty orchids at the garden comes February 14, 2015, through March 15, 2015. An orchid show will use bamboo structures and lantern-style floats to display more than 10,000 tropical, fragrant blooms.
