The Real and Fantastic World of Charles Burchfield
Road Trips Gardeners will be enchanted with the visionary landscapes of America artist Charles Burchfield (1893-1967). A major exhibition of his work, titled “Exalted Nature:The Real and Fantastic World of Charles Burchfield” is on view at the Brandywine River Museum of Art, U.S. Route 1, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, through November 16, 2014.
It then moves to the Anthony J. Sisti Gallery of the Burchfield Penney Art Center of the State University of New York, 1300 Elmwood Avenue Buffalo, New York, for a show from December 12, 2014, through February 22, 2015.
the exhibition includes more than 50 paintings borrowed from public and private collections across the United States, providing an opportunity “to examine the artist’s luminous, spiritual interpretations of the world around him”.
The exhibit is co-organized by the Brandywine River Museum and the Burchfield Penney.
