massachusetts_smith_mumThere’s still time to catch the Fall Chrysanthemum Show in the Lyman Conservatory of the Botanic Garden of Smith College, College Lane, Northampton, Massachusetts.

The show features over-sized blooms that can reach eight inches across. Brightly colored chrysanthemums create a cascade of blooms along one greenhouse wall.

A dragon sculpture, by 2014 Smith College graduate Hyun-Jung Oh, is the centerpiece of the show and gives it this year’s theme: Dragons!

The horticulture class is showcased each year with a display of their mum hybridizing experiments. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorites. The winner is inducted into the Mum Hall of Fame, an online exhibit.

Although it opened November 1, it runs through November 16, 2014. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with closing extended ’til 8 p.m. on Fridays. Suggested donation is $5 per person.
