Bold vermilion red blooms (aster, perhaps?) brighten a corner of a public park along the West Lake in Hangzhou, China, on a sunny November afternoon.
The freshwater lake is in the capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has been among the most important sources of inspiration for Chinese classical garden designers.
