california_carlsbad_ranunculusNow is the time to head to Southern California, Road Trips Gardeners. The ranunculus are in bloom.

The Flower Fields, 5704 Paseo del Norte, Carlsbad, California, are a riot of colors from now through May 10, 2015. There are more than 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers on this working farm.

During the blooming period, there are lots of things to do besides linger in the sea of blooms. My favorite is the fragrant Sweet Pea Maze.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults.
