Garden Trains and Poinsettias in Omaha, Nebraska
Thousands of poinsettias fill the floral display hall of the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory at Lauritzen Gardens, 100 Bancroft Street, Omaha, Nebraska, during the holiday show — now through January 4, 2017.
In the center of it all: a 20-foot-tall poinsettia tree surrounded by a cascade of twinkling white lights, glittering ornaments and the “whir and whistle” of model garden trains.
More than 5000 poinsettias in 25 different varieties were grown for this year’s display: multi-hued, deep red, sparkling white and speckled poinsettias (varieties will be replaced as needed to provide an ever-changing display).
Model trains chug around dozens of miniature Omaha-area landmarks, such as the First National Tower, Woodmen Tower, Union Pacific’s headquarters, the Rose Theater and numerous Old Market buildings.
Road Trips Gardeners can visit daily between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., except Christmas and New Year’s Day.
