Tulips in New York’s Capital City
The 69th annual Tulip Festival takes place Mothers’ Day Weekend (May 13 and 14, 2017) in Washington Park, 1 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York.
Featuring annual traditions rooted in the city’s rich Dutch heritage, the stars of the fest are more than 150,000 tulips planted in historic Washington Park.
Since Mayor Erastus Corning II read the first Tulip Festival Proclamation on May 14, 1949, the Mother’s Day weekend celebration has grown into one of the Northeast’s favorite festivals, including live music, craft vendors, a fine arts show, children’s activities, and “great food”.
Of special interest to Road Trips Gardeners: free Tulip Festival parking is available in the Elk Street Parking Lot (at Elk & North Hawk streets) and in the Eagle Street Garage (at Eagle Street & Madison Avenue).
