Heirloom Fest: Tomatoes & More
Have you been growing heirloom tomatoes this summer, Road Trips Gardeners? Learn what to do with ’em at “Heirloom Fest: Tomatoes & More” set for this weekend (August 25 and 26, 2018). Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day for the fest, to be held at the Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, Illinois.
Learn how to grow and use heirloom tomatoes and other heirloom vegetables with displays, activities, tours, and seed saving demonstrations. Take a Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden tour with the staff horticulturist and learn how easy it is to save your own heirloom/open-pollinated tomato seeds.
Vendors will have a variety of items for sale from homemade jams to specialty spice mixes, goat cheese, and fresh produce. Families can take part in hands-on games and activities.
As part of the Garden Chef Series, Heather Terhune of Tre Rivali will give cooking demonstrations August 25, and Fernando Angelina of Guildhall will give cooking demonstrations August 26.
