Ikebana and Dahlias at the Chicago Botanic Garden

Ikebana SogetsuTwo flower shows are on tap at the Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, Illinois.

The Sogetsu School of Illinois stages an Ikebana Exhibition from noon to 4:30 p.m. September 8, 2018, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. September 9, 2018. Featured are flower-arranging demonstrations plus 50 Ikebana on display. Sogetsu School of Illinois members will be on hand to answer questions.

Central States Dahlia SocietyThe Central States Dahlia Society Show takes place the following weekend, also at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. September 15, 2018, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 16, 2018.

Hundreds of flowers in the dahlia family will be judged and on display in a wide variety of colors, sizes, and forms, with floral designs and photography completing the show. Society members will be on hand to provide written information and to answer questions about dahlias.
