The annual Gardenland Express Holiday Flower and Train Show is open through January 1, 2019, at the Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Blvd., St. Louis, Missouri. Look for G-scale trains representing many eras traveling along 900 feet of track through a miniature holiday landscape made up of festive decorations and thousands of fresh plants, accented by beautiful poinsettias and flowers.

It’s open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through January 1, 2019 ($5 per person, in addition to regular Garden admission).

If you buy a ticket to the Garden Glow (daily, 5 to 10 p.m.; closed December 24 and 25), you’ll also get admission to the Gardenland Show. Garden Glow

Garden Glow features something around one million lights arranged outside. There are several opportunities to pick up hot chocolate, s’mores, and other traditional food along the Garden Glow path, which is about 1.3 miles (it usually takes visitors about 1-1/2 hours).

In case you were wondering, the Missouri Botanical Garden says, “Garden Glow was carefully designed in coordination with our Horticulture staff to protect our living collection of trees and plants. The cut trees in this installation were farmed in Michigan and purchased at the Kirkwood Market. For this display, cut trees are the more sustainable choice as they help preserve the Garden’s collections and prevent damage to living plants. After Garden Glow, these cut conifers will be chipped and used as wood mulch in the Garden.”

Note: All daytime visitors must exit the Garden at 4 p.m. even if they have Glow tickets for the same night. Glow tickets holders will be admitted beginning at 5 p.m in 15 min intervals.

Planning to go, Road Trips Gardeners? It’s best to buy your Garden Glow ticket ahead of arrival, since they’re timed admissions, and some slots sell out.
