Shimmering Flowers at Berkshire Botanical Garden
“Shimmering Flowers“, a series of gilt and mother-of-pearl paintings and objects, opens June 1, 2019, in the Leonhardt Galleries of Berkshire Botanical Garden, 5 West Stockbridge Road, Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
A New York City based artist, Nancy Lorenz incorporates techniques from traditional Asian crafts, drawing on her years spent living in Japan and a thirty-five-year career as a noted contemporary abstract painter.
The works, complementing the Garden’s collection of flora, include table-top landscape vessels in cast bronze, creating a dialogue with the galleries and their surrounding gardens.
Throughout the summer, these vessels will display arrangements created by a rotating group of talented floral designers whose interpretations of the art are reflected in unique displays of flowers and other natural materials. the exhibit closes September 30, 2019. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free with paid garden admission.
Road Trips Gardeners in the Berkshires at the end of this month might want to attend the opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. May 31, 2019. The reception will include a demonstration presented by floral designer and ikebana master Kan Asakura.
