Regular readers of this blog know that your Road Trips Gardener considers butterflies as fluttering flowers (of course, they’re privileged visitors to gardens as well).

There are all sorts of places to see butterflies. Some botanical gardens have on-going displays of butterflies in all stages of life. Many cities stage butterfly festivals throughout the year.

Here are some places to get up close and personal with these “fluttering flowers”:

A Butterfly Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 3, 2019, in the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed, Pennington, New Jersey.

The Monarch Festival sponsored by the Oak Lawn (Illinois) Park District will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. September 14, 2019, both inside and outdoors at the Oak View Center, Oak Lawn, Illinois.

The Native Texas Butterfly Garden & House is open through September 20, 2019, at the Heard Museum, 1 Nature Place, McKinney, Texas.

There’s lots of fluttering at “Butterflies LIVE!” in the Lewis Ginter Botanic Garden, 1800 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. The exhibition is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 14, 2019.

Powell Gardens Festival of Butterflies, Kansas City’s Botanical Garden, 1609 Northwest U.S. Highway 50, Kingsville, Missouri: July 27 through August 11, 2019.

A Butterfly Festival is September 21, 2019, at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, 592 Northeast K156, Great Bend, Kansas.
