Teuila Festival Opens Today in Samoa
Lucky Road Trips Gardeners have already arrived in Samoa for the annual Teuila Festival.
Taking place today (September 1, 2019) through September 7, 2019, in Apia, it was established in 1991 and named after the deep pink teuila (pictured) — the national flower of Samoa. It’s one of the South Pacific’s biggest cultural festivals.
The opening ceremony is a display of Samoan culture with a floral parade, the Siva Afi fire knife dancers, and native music setting the
scene for a further five days of festivities.
(Note: Samoa is an independent nation, and not the same island as American Samoa.)
