Orchid Show, Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, IllinoisIt’s almost time for The Orchid Show at the Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, Illinois.

It opens Saturday (February 8, 2020), and runs through March 22, 2020. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. During “Orchids After Hours” on Thursday evenings, drinks and light fare are available for purchase fro 4 to 8 p.m.

This Orchid Show is unlike any that the garden has done before. Why? they’ll be highlighting, reflecting, and enhancing the hues of orchids in a modern world of living color.

An artistic installation will feature 10,000 brilliant blooms in unexpected ways: via a towering kaleidoscope, a floating carpet, and a dramatic chandelier, designed to be lit and transformed by the winter sun.

Every weekend during the show, orchids are for sale at the Orchid Marketplace. An extra bonus: members of the Illinois Orchid Society offer repotting services on select weekends for the orchids you bring from home.

A post-orchid-show plant sale March 26, 2020, open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. in Nichols Hall, will include many of the display orchids.
