If it’s February it must be the time for orchid shows. The wild tropical plant that’s become a reliable greenhouse bloomer brightens the days as the countdown to spring continues.

Orchidaceae, the Orchid family, is a diverse group of flowering plants belonging to the Liliopsida class. Found on every continent except Antarctica, orchids are one of the largest families of flowering plants.

In fact, with more than 28,000 species, there are more orchids on the planet than mammals and birds
The first weekend is packed with orchid shows, from Missouri to Florida.

The Orchid Show is underway for the first time in three years at the Emerson Conservatory of the Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri. It continues through February 26.

Orchids are on display at through February 13 at Filoli, 86 Cañada Road, Woodside, California.

The Susquehanna Orchid Society’s “For the Love of Orchids” will be held February 3 through 5 in the Milton and Catherine Hershey Conservatory at Hershey Gardens, 170 Hotel Road, Hershey, Pennsylvania. More than 1,000 orchids representing dozens of varieties will be on display, including rare species and unique hybrids. Daily orchid show tours and informational sessions will take place in the exhibition and Garden Cottage. Don’t miss the orchids on display in the Butterfly Atrium!

The 24th annual Deep Cut Orchid Society Show runs February 3 through 5 in the Dearborn Market, 2170 Route 35 South, Holmdel, New Jersey.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Orchid Society’s Show and Sale is being held February 3 through 5in the Gautier Convention Center, 2012 Library Lane, Gautier, Mississippi.

The Venice Area Orchid Society Show and Sale will be February 4 and 5 in the Venice Community Center, 326 S Nokomis Avenue, Venice, Florida.

The Greater Cleveland Orchid Society‘s 2023 Orchid Show and Sale takes place February 4 and 5 in the Cleveland Botanical Garden, 11030 East Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio.

Orchid Growers Guild‘s An “Orchid Quest” is being held by the Orchid Growers Guild February 4 and 5, in the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin.
