Flower(s) of the Day: Carnegie Library in Reims
Today’s flowers are in a massive planter outside La Bibioteque Municiple de Reims, France. Built in 1927-8, the library (which is still in use) was one of three financed by a donation from Carnegie “pour la paix international” following World War I. The other two are in Belgrade, Serbia, and Leuven, Belgium. The design of the building is in that liminal space between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. (Photo ©2007 by Susan McKee)
