Mark WeathingtonMark Weathington (pictured, at left), Director of the JC Raulston Arboretum at North Carolina State University, shares shortcuts and techniques during his presentation on Gardening in the South: Confessions of a Lazy Gardener. It’s the annual lecture October 3, 2023, at Hills & Dales Estate, 1916 Hills and Dales Drive, LaGrange, Georgia.

His message? Gardening is easy – don’t let the experts tell you otherwise. He’ll talk about how to take some of the work out of gardening and keeping it an enjoyable pastime instead of a chore. Mark has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad searching for new plants to diversify the American landscape while sharing his passion of connecting plants to people. He writes for Fine Gardening, Horticulture and other national magazines, and is the author of Gardening in the South: The Complete Homeowner’s Guide, copies of which will be available for purchase in the Hills & Dales Gift Shop.

The evening will begin with a reception at 6:30 pm, followed by the presentation and book signing at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person.
