Flower of the Day: Impatiens
In the waning days of summer, scarlet impatiens brighten the downtown of Columbus, Indiana.
Your Road Trips Gardener snapped these on a walk to check out this year’s edition of Exhibit Columbus, public art installations installed throughout the central city (they’ll be on display until the end of November).
According to Wikipedia, impatiens is a genus of more than 1,000 species of flowering plants, widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere and the tropics. Together with the genus Hydrocera (one species), Impatiens make up the family Balsaminaceae.
