Poinsettia Show and Sale
The 15th annual Poinsettia Show and Sale in Gainesville, Florida — said to be the largest poinsettia show in North America — will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. December 9, 2010, in the Horticulture Greenhouses behind Fifield Hall at the University of Florida.
The display occupies 16,000 square feet, showcasing more than 6,000 plants. There will be 150 varieties and types on display this year. Many of these are the newest and most novel poinsettias. Bonus: the Environmental Horticulture student club will sell over 2,500 plants they have produced. Admission is free.
Poinsettia cultivation is a university specialty. For more on the plant (formally known as Euphorbia pulcherrima), go online.
