Papillon Garden in the Dominican Republic
Exotic butterflies have claimed residence at Dominican Republic’s first butterfly park. The Papillon Garden in Rancho Baiguate, Jarabacoa, showcases six species from the Papilionidae and Nymphalidae families, two of the most vibrant and common families frequenting the Caribbean.
There are nine species of the Papilio butterflies found within the Dominican Republic, four of which are highly prevalent, while the Nymphalidae family includes large species like the zebra butterfly.
Rancho Baiguate, a small resort with just 27 rooms, worked with entomologist Kelvin Guerrero to develop this sustainable project of raising and exhibition of species of Dominican butterflies.
