No doubt when you’ve stopped to pick up flowers at the supermarket, Road Trips Gardeners, you’ve seen the tag: grown in Colombia.

Well, the South American country is justly famous for its flowers and exports them all over the world.

During the annual Medellín Flower Fair, held every year since 1957, the city bursts into flames of color and sweet scent. This year’s dates are July 31 through August 9, 2015.

A highlight is the Desfile de Silleteros parade, where processions of campesinos (country folk) move slowly through town with large wooden constructions on their backs, each decorated elaborately with flowers of every color and fragrance.

Visitors can browse scented exhibitions of orchids and other flowers, select artisan crafts and watch flower-arranging competitions. There is also a parade of classic cars, a beauty parade to find the Queen of the Flowers, plenty of live music and dancing well into the night.
