connecticut_middlefield_sunflower-mazeMost farm field mazes are corn, but Lyman Orchards does it differently. Their maze at 52 South Street, Middlefield, Connecticut, is planted with sunflowers.

Open now through August 23, 2015, the hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with the last admission at 4:30 p.m.). Tickets are $10; $5 for children 4 through 12, and free for those younger than 4.

There are some 350,000 blooming red and yellow sunflowers in this year’s dinosaur-themed maze. Note that $1 of each admission is donated to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Established in 1741 and now in its ninth generation, Lyman Orchards is recognized as the twelfth oldest family owned business still in operation.
