Keukenhof Comes to New York’s Battery Park
Strictly speaking, it’s a media event. But Road Trips Gardeners in Manhattan tomorrow might want to stop by Battery Park at 10 a.m. to witness something special.
The Battery Conservancy, Keukenhof Flower Exhibition and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York will preside over the planting of the first of 25,000 bulbs from Holland at the New Amsterdam Plein & Pavilion in Battery Park.
The bulbs, donated by Keukenhof, will be in flower next spring reminding New Yorkers not only of the city’s Dutch heritage, but of the seven million bulbs that will be on display in 2017 at the exhibition in Lisse just outside Amsterdam (New York City, of course, was once called New Amsterdam).
Next year’s display at Keukenhof will be March 23 through May 21, 2017.
